My name is Mechelle Shields and I am the 7th and 8th grade AVID Elective Teacher. This is my 2nd year with Stewart Middle School. I have been employed with Douglas County School District since 2015. I started as a Substitute then as a Long-Term Substitute. In 2019 I worked as a Paraprofessional with Stewart Middle School.
I have a Bachelor in Psychology from St. Leo University. I have a Master in Public Health from Argosy University and I am completing my Master in Education from University of West Georgia Carrollton, Georgia.
I was licensed as a Minister of the Gospel in 2009. I serve on the Ministerial Staff at Golden Memorial United Methodist Church in Douglasville under the leadership of Rev. Dr. Gregory Williams. I serve as the Chairperson of the Missions Ministry. Also, I am in the Mass Choir and the Praise Ministry. I am the Director and Founder of OneLoveJam Ministries where we are advocates of HIV/AIDS and the homeless. I know my purpose is "if I can help somebody along the way, then my living is not in vain."
My family and I love to travel and try new restaurants. We are a close knit family and loves to entertain. I am a book nerd. I love karaoke and CONSIGNMENT! I love the water but cannot swim....Go Figure.
I believe this Generation of Youth is the Generation that will be the change that the world needs. I enjoy talking to them because it creates a time for dialogue and knowledge.
"YOU CAN'T GO BACK AND CHANGE THE BEGINNING, BUT YOU CAN START WHERE YOU ARE AND CHANGE THE ENDING."....C.S. Lewis
