The DIVAS hosted a beautiful Mother/Daughter event with a “Denim and Pearls” theme, where students created a stunning and colorful grazing table for their mothers. The evening included a fun skincare session led by former Stewart Middle teacher Mrs. Ralencia Howard, along with thoughtful gifts for both the DIVAS and their moms. Special recognition was given to Jasmine Sanders, Ka’Niyah Thompson, and Gabriella Washington for their three years of dedication to the DIVAS program.

🎓✨ 8th Grade Career Day Success! ✨🎓

Today, our 8th grade students had an incredible opportunity to learn from members of our community during Career Day! We were proud to welcome a variety of guest speakers who shared their journeys, from the colleges they attended to the careers they’ve built.

Students rotated through small group sessions where they learned about college life, including academics, clubs, sports, and even Greek life. Our speakers offered valuable insights, advice, and encouragement to help inspire our students as they begin thinking about their own futures.

A huge thank you to all of our community members who took the time to invest in our students. Your stories and experiences made a lasting impact!

Today, our 7th grade students had an incredible opportunity to explore future careers during our Career Day—featuring representatives from all branches of the United States Armed Forces!

We were honored to welcome speakers from the U.S. Army, Marine Corps, Navy, Air Force, Coast Guard, and Space Force, who shared their experiences, career pathways, and the many opportunities available through military service.

Students engaged in meaningful conversations, asked thoughtful questions, and gained a deeper understanding of leadership, service, and dedication to our country. This experience helped bring real-world connections into the classroom.

A huge thank you to our guest speakers, including our very own, Mr. Becks, for taking the time to invest in our students and for your service to our nation!

Our students had an amazing experience at the Tome Literacy Conference in Athens, Georgia! 📚✨

Scholars had the opportunity to meet several of the authors whose books they’ve been reading, hear directly from writers during an engaging author panel, and participate in a variety of fun and creative literacy activities, including an author signing event!
Experiences like this bring reading to life and inspire a deeper love for books and storytelling.

We are so proud of our students for representing Stewart Middle School so well and for continuing to ignite their passion for literacy!

🎉 Student Spotlight! 🔬✨
We are incredibly proud to celebrate Keyara Hinton, an accomplished 8th grade scholar who placed 2nd in the entire region at the Regional Science Fair! 🏆
Keyara’s project, “Germs All Around,” investigated the presence of microorganisms on everyday household objects such as TV remotes, remote buttons, cell phones, and doorknobs. Through her work, she demonstrated strong scientific inquiry skills, thoughtful data analysis, and a true passion for real-world problem solving.
Congratulations, Keyara, on this outstanding achievement! 👏🧪💡

🎥✨ Grant Spotlight at Stewart Middle School ✨🎙️

Thanks to a Classroom Impact Grant written by our Media Specialist, Heather Deal, Stewart Middle School now has new video, podcasting, and professional lighting equipment in the media center! This grant, funded by the Douglas County Education Foundation, supports our School Improvement Plan by increasing scholar engagement, strengthening core academic skills, promoting collaboration, and building college and career readiness.
Scholars and teachers are already using the recording space in creative ways—producing live video study guides in Coach Warner's 6th grade Science classes, student newscasts, interviews for special events, and including our ESOL scholars recording in their native languages to ensure all voices are heard.
We are incredibly grateful to the Douglas County Education Foundation and its generous donors for making this opportunity possible. Your support is helping our scholars learn, create, and shine! 💙🦅
